Seaweed and marine extracts are good for you! - good for your skin, your hair and your health. We sort of know this but don't really know why. So when our new specialist seaweed and marine extract Soaps and Bath Crystals from Brittany arrived we did a bit of research. Why is this slimy sea plant so amazing? Seaweed is packed with very high concentration of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants, much more so than terrestrial plant or animal derivatives. Seaweed has been used for centuries across cultures for treating skin disorders and ailments and research has shown that it has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-allergic properties, as well as being a powerful agent for skin renewal (that's anti-aging to you and me). In fact these slimy sea plants are so amazing, there has been a massive bio-tech surge in the use of marine and algae extracts in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic worlds - I mean we've all heard of Crème de la Mer haven't we?
Anyway - the thing that grabbed our attention is the impact that seaweed extracts have on spots and cellulite - yes! So we very enthusiastically gave all these soaps a whirl in the shower.
We can report that these soaps are a delight to the senses - bringing a blast of sea air into your shower and bathing experience. The Bath Crystals smell amazing and give you the feeling of an Spa treatment in your own bathroom! The brown crushed seaweed soap is a very effective exfoliant, gently scrubbing away dead skin leaving your body feeling rejuvenated and fresh - it has become a best seller! The blue seaweed soaps are pure glycerin soaps with loofah and algae pieces suspended in them. Not sure of the impact on our cellulite yet but we are continuing this experiment with great gusto! They all smell amazing and are not at all like the pongs that you might come across on a seaside walk.
Beautiful to look at, packed full of marine extracts, smelling divine: these soaps are a real treat and make fab gifts.
