Natural Laundry Soap – Cauldron Made in Marseille
Savon de Marseille soap flakes are a traditional laundry soap made in Marseille using the historic cauldron cooking process.
Produced from 100% vegetable oils, these flakes are created by shaving authentic Marseille soap into fine pieces that dissolve easily in hot water to form a simple and effective liquid laundry soap.
For generations Savon de Marseille has been relied upon throughout France for washing clothing, linens and delicate fabrics. Its formulation is intentionally minimal — vegetable oils, water and mineral salts produced through traditional saponification.
Because the soap contains no added fragrance, colour or preservatives, it is widely used for sensitive skin laundry, baby clothing and delicate fabrics.
Why Soap Works in Laundry
Soap cleans by binding naturally to grease and oils while also mixing with water. This allows dirt to lift from fibres and rinse away cleanly.
Unlike many modern detergents, Savon de Marseille soap flakes contain no optical brighteners, enzymes or synthetic surfactants, making them particularly well suited to fabrics that benefit from gentler washing.
This simple formulation is why Marseille soap has remained a trusted laundry soap for generations.
Ideal for Everyday Laundry
Savon de Marseille flakes can be used for:
• everyday washing of clothing and linens
• bedding and towels
• baby clothing and sensitive skin laundry
• wool, silk and delicate fabrics
• preparing traditional homemade liquid laundry
NOTE: to use make the soap flakes into a liquid or gel in advance by simply dissolving them in hot water. This ensures even distribution and prevents undissolved soap in colder washes.
They are suitable for both machine washing and hand washing.
Natural Variation
Because Savon de Marseille is produced from natural vegetable oils, the colour of the flakes can vary from white to beige depending on the oils used in each cauldron batch.
This natural variation is a normal characteristic of authentic Marseille soap and does not affect the quality or performance of the product.
Ingredient Transparency
Savon de Marseille naturally contains a small trace of glycerin produced during the saponification process. This glycerin is not added and most of it is removed during the washing stages of traditional Marseille soapmaking.
This Is For You If You Want
• a true soap-based laundry instead of synthetic detergents
• a gentle option for baby clothing or sensitive skin laundry
• a simple base for traditional homemade liquid laundry
• an authentic Savon de Marseille laundry soap
