PATCHOULI

Patchouli Savon de Marseille Soaps, Candles & Essential Oils

Discover the depth and character of patchouli soap, a fragrance long associated with traditional and classic French soapmaking. Rich, earthy and unmistakably distinctive, patchouli remains one of the most recognisable scents used in Savon de Marseille soap and Provence-inspired formulations.

This collection brings together a range of patchouli soaps in the UK, including traditional bars, liquid soaps and carefully blended fragrances from established French makers.

Whether you are looking for a patchouli soap bar, a patchouli hand soap, patchoulie soap flakes, or even candles, each product reflects a balance of fragrance, practicality and craftsmanship

Why Choose Patchouli Soap?

  • Patchouli is a deep, woody, and slightly spicy fragrance, popular in fine perfumery.
  • Rich, grounding, and long-lasting with subtle sweetness.
  • Patchouli essential oil is known for soothing, balancing, and rejuvenating skin.
  • A staple note in many French perfumes, patchouli adds sophistication to Provence soaps.
  • Natural, biodegradable, and sustainably made.
  • Where Does The Name Patchouli Come From?

The name comes from the old Tamil word spatchai (‘green’) andellai (‘leaf’). These green fragile-looking leaves naturally produce a slightly sweet, nonchalantly spicy, weirdly smoky, cedarishand powerful scent.

  • Uses of Patchouli Soaps

Patchouli is a fantastic insect repellent, effective against flies and other bugs and Paisley shawls were traditionally layered with patchouli leaves to keep them fresh and bug free in transit. Frenchwomen in the 19th Century swathed themselves in these patchouli-scented shawls and the Parisian Perfume houses were quick to embrace this and turn it into a desirable fragrance.
