Made in Ariège in the Pyrenees
📐 8cm x 5cm x 2.2cm
Hand made in the Pyrenees, this is our best selling soap from this range. made with organic goat’s milk and enriched with sweet almond oil then naturally fragranced with patchouli essential oil.
The scent is deep and grounding — warm, earthy, and softly aromatic — making it a long-standing customer favourite. Cold-processed with fresh organic Alpine goat’s milk, it delivers a creamy, comforting lather.
A true, clean and sparkling patchouli.
A mild base of organic olive oil and coconut oil cleanses effectively without upsetting the skin’s natural balance. Fresh organic goat’s milk adds natural softness and comfort, supporting everyday skin needs.
Sweet almond oil enhances suppleness and skin feel, while patchouli essential oil brings warmth and depth to the bar. Cold-process soapmaking preserves the naturally occurring glycerin formed during saponification, helping the skin retain moisture after washing.
Containing pure Patchouli Oil (rather than fragrance), this is a stunning soap!
If you are into perfumes, o grew up in the 80's, you must know patchouli as an important fragrance in the perfume industry. It boasts woody, earthy and camphoraceous scent and has fixative properties (makes the fragrance long-lasting).
Its composition is pretty unique: it does not contain any of the EU's 26 most common fragrance allergens, but its most important components are patchoulol (30%) and alpha-patchoulene (6%) which are responsible for its aroma and antifungal properties.
Sweet Almond Oil
The emollient plant oil that comes from almonds. Similar to other plant oils, it is loaded with skin-nourishing fatty acids ( oleic acid- 55-86% and linoleum acid 7-35%) and contains several other skin goodies such as antioxidant vitamin E and vitamin B versions.
It's a nice, basic oil that is often used due to its great smoothing, softening and moisturizing properties.

Organic Alpine Goat’s Milk
Sourced from the family’s own free-range Alpine goats, goat’s milk lies at the heart of this soap. Naturally rich in vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids, it is traditionally valued for its gentleness and skin comfort.
Organic Sweet Almond Oil
A classic ingredient in gentle skincare, sweet almond oil is rich in nourishing fatty acids and known for its excellent skin tolerance. It helps soften and smooth the skin, making daily washing feel comfortable rather than drying.

Maison Berthe Guilhem is, first and foremost, a family story — one rooted in the rhythms of the Pyrenees and a deep respect for land, animals, and traditional know-how.
The goat’s milk used in these soaps comes from the family’s own free-range Alpine goats, raised with care in a clean mountain environment. Small herds, attentive husbandry, and organic farming practices ensure the milk is fresh, traceable, and handled with the respect it deserves.
Soapmaking is done slowly, by hand, using a traditional cold-process method. This gentle approach not only preserves the natural qualities of the ingredients, but also avoids unnecessary energy use and waste. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is added without reason.
Ingredients are chosen for their quality, origin, and purpose — always organic where possible, always biodegradable, and never superfluous. The formulas are deliberately short, the packaging minimal, and the final bars designed to last.
Wet skin, lather and enjoy!
Maison Berthe Guilhem is an artisan family savonnerie that hand make all their soaps.
Berthe Guilhem made her first goat's milk soaps in 1956 alongside ointments and the famous gardener's balm. Initially she made all the products for herself, her children, friends and neighbours.
Today Marc & Jean-Luc, Berthe Guilhem's grandsons, and their families, continue using her original methodology and recipes that adhere to strict and uncompromising respect for their formulations and for the environment.
Their believe "you can work in a human-sized laboratory, maintain an artisanal identity while manufacturing effective, efficient and state-of-the-art organic cosmetic products."
Marc Guilhem, grandson of Berthe Guilhem, is also a former student of the European Center for Applied Naturopathy
Creamy and durable, our soaps are made by hand
Maison Berthe Guilhem use a cold saponification method; The combination of organic vegetable oils and organic goat's milk in an unaltered state gives them exceptional results. Always cold, the formulation is kneaded before being vigorously pressed and molded. The soaps are hand cut and stamped after several weeks of drying. Their lifespan is extended due to their low percentage of humidity (8 to 10%).
100% natural ingredients
They make all their own infusions, decoctions, macerations and mother tinctures ensuring they make the best use of their natural properties.
What is cold saponification?
Cold saponification is the result of a mixture of soda in water, then later in oil. This manufacturing method is called Cold Saponification because it does not use the heat like traditional Savon de Marseille: The heat is naturally induced by the addition of soda to the water and then to the Oil that raises the temperature of the mixture until it blends. Once this process has occurred the ‘soap’ is left to dry for several weeks before Organic Goats Milk and other ingredients for example Avocado Oil, Shea Butter or Essential Oils are added.
Certified organic natural artisanal know-how
The Berthe Guilhem laboratory is certified to the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (A.N.S.M.). The majority of products are labeled COSMEBIO and certified organic QUALITÉ FRANCE and COSMECERT. At each stage of their manufacture, they are subject to dermatological tests and quality controls proving their safety. These tests, carried out by an independent laboratory, are done on healthy volunteers.
Berthe Guilhem: highly organic products
Maison Berthe Guilhem ensures the quality of its products and their composition. They all contain between 55% and 100% organic ingredients, which is very important compared to the 20% needed to obtain an organic certification!

Bought as a gift, they loved it 🙂
I love patchouli and this is a true scent, not too harsh but unmistakably patchouli.
Combined with the almond oil and goats milk, which are really gentle on the skin, the soap lathers generously leaving your skin clean and soft.
This soap initially has a gentle fruity smell. it is pleasant to use and the patchouli comes through on your skin after use. Lovely.
Such wonderful products
Hi Yes your Soaps are alway's very nice , this is why we alway's come back to you . Your service is not bad either ha ha . love Alan .
Excellent product.
I have purchased quite a few soaps by Savon de Bormes and they are are very good quality and smell divine. My husband likes the herbs de provence but I think my favourite is the Patchouli, however, they are all lovely.
Lovely soap
