New from Geodesis: Japanese Incense Arrives at French Soaps UK

Every so often, a new product arrives that feels less like an addition to a catalogue and more like the beginning of a new chapter.

For more than twenty years, Geodesis has explored the world's great fragrance landscapes through candles, diffusers and home fragrance. Their collections have taken us from Mediterranean fig groves and Japanese cherry blossom to the precious woods of Borneo and the white flowers of Central America. This Summer, that journey continues with the arrival of a completely new format: Japanese Incense.

We are delighted to introduce the new Geodesis Japanese Incense Collection and, for the time being, to be the first retailer offering the range in the UK.

A Meeting of Two Fragrance Traditions

What makes this collection particularly interesting is the combination of French perfumery and Japanese craftsmanship.

Each incense stick is manufactured in Japan using traditional methods that have been refined over more than 450 years. Made from natural materials including sandalwood and wood powders, the sticks are produced without the bamboo core commonly found in many incense products. This allows the fragrance itself to take centre stage, creating a cleaner and more nuanced scent experience.

The fragrances are known to you already, developed by Geodesis in Vannes, drawing inspiration from some of the world's most distinctive botanical and aromatic treasures.

The result is a collection that feels both ancient and contemporary: a traditional Japanese craft interpreted through the lens of modern French fragrance.

Each box of 30 includes a small black stick holder for safe burning and a scented bookmark to use throughout the day. Each stick has a burn time of 40minutes.

Five Fragrances, Five Destinations

As with the wider Geodesis collection, each fragrance tells the story of a place.

Amber – India

A warm and sophisticated composition built around cedarwood, cananga and cade. Rich, resinous and gently smoky, Amber creates an atmosphere that feels both comforting and elegant.

Agarwood – Borneo

One of the most revered materials in the history of incense. Deep, woody and quietly powerful, Agarwood offers a refined interpretation of the noble woods traditionally used in Japanese incense making.

Sakura – Japan

Inspired by the flowering cherry tree, Sakura combines delicate floral notes with soft fruit nuances and a subtle powdery character. Light, graceful and unmistakably Japanese.

Fig Tree – Greece

Capturing the scent of the whole tree rather than simply the fruit, Fig Tree blends green leaves, milky sap and ripe figs into a fragrance that feels fresh, vibrant and Mediterranean.

Tuberose – Mexico

Native to Central America, tuberose is renowned for its rich floral character. Sweet, creamy and expressive, this fragrance brings warmth and elegance to any room.

Why Japanese Incense?

Many people are familiar with candles and reed diffusers, but incense offers a different way to experience fragrance within the home.

Rather than providing a continuous background scent, incense creates a more immediate atmosphere. The fragrance unfolds gradually as the stick burns, allowing the character of the perfume to develop through delicate aromatic smoke.

Japanese incense is particularly admired for its refinement. The absence of a bamboo core means there is less interference from burning wood, allowing the fragrance itself to be appreciated more clearly.

For those who enjoy home fragrance but have never explored incense before, it can be a fascinating introduction to one of the world's oldest fragrance traditions.

A New Addition to the Geodesis Collection

We have long admired Geodesis for their ability to translate landscapes, botanicals and cultural inspirations into distinctive fragrances. This new collection feels like a natural extension of that philosophy.

Whether you are already a fan of Geodesis candles and diffusers or are discovering the brand for the first time, Japanese Incense offers a new way to experience fragrance inspired by the world around us.

We are delighted to welcome the collection to French Soaps UK and look forward to seeing which fragrance becomes your favourite.
