100% natural, anhydrous citric acid is a traditional household cleaning product to be diluted in water. It has powerful descaling and rust-preventing properties, whether for stainless steel, enamel, textiles, or for removing limescale in your kitchens and bathrooms (descaling washing machines and other appliances, showers, toilets, etc.).
Its cleaning qualities are well-known and useful for many household purposes. It is made from the fermentation of glucose syrup.
Citric acid is one of the most widespread natural plant acids on the planet, found in citrus fruits, berries, wood, mushrooms and even leaves. Used for centuries in preserving, cleaning and metal care, it remains one of the most effective and environmentally respectful cleaners you can use—powerful against limescale, yet gentle on the planet.
Made from raw plant-based materials, produced and packaged in Western Europe, and supplied in eco-friendly, recyclable packaging, this high-quality citric acid offers exceptional cleaning performance with minimal environmental impact.
Citric acid is a naturally occurring weak organic acid with exceptional chelating power—meaning it binds to and breaks down minerals such as calcium and magnesium. This makes it one of the most effective natural solutions for:
removing limescale
descaling kettles, irons and coffee machines
dissolving mineral deposits on taps and shower heads
removing soap scum and water marks
brightening tiles, baths and shower screens
enhancing dishwasher performance
improving laundry softness in hard-water areas
It is also a natural antioxidant, traditionally used in food preservation and household remedies.
This citric acid is produced using sustainable plant-based raw materials through a low-impact fermentation process. Its eco-profile includes:
biodegradable and non-toxic
zero petroleum-derived ingredients
produced and packaged within Europe to reduce transport emissions
no chlorine, phosphates, fillers or synthetic additives
Because it is fully biodegradable, citric acid does not accumulate in the environment or waterways, and it breaks down safely without contributing to pollution or aquatic toxicity. It is widely recognised as one of the safest, greenest descalers available.
Ethically, citric acid production avoids animal testing, relies on renewable plant sources and supports responsible supply chains with strict European-quality standards.
Citric acid has been used for centuries across cultures:
First isolated from lemon juice in the 8th century by Persian alchemists
Adopted in the 18th century for food preservation and medicinal uses
Industrial production developed in the early 20th century using natural fermentation
Today it is one of the most widely used natural acids worldwide, valued for its safety, versatility and biodegradability
Its long-standing use reflects its reliability, purity and natural origins.
