This traditional shaving soap is formulated to respect and care for men’s skin, offering a close, comfortable shave without dryness or irritation.
Enriched with goat’s milk and avocado oil, the formula is naturally moisturising and soothing, helping to support the skin’s protective barrier and reduce the tightness often associated with shaving. A carefully balanced blend of three mineral clays gently purifies and softens the skin, while a nourishing olive and coconut oil soap base cleanses without stripping.
With 99.96% ingredients of natural origin, this is a thoughtful, functional shaving soap designed for daily use.
Formulation & How It Works
This shaving soap creates a light, creamy lather that cushions the razor and softens stubble, allowing for a clean shave with minimal drag.
Olive and coconut oils form a gentle, conditioning soap base
Goat’s milk supports skin comfort and hydration during shaving
French mineral clays help purify and refine the skin’s surface
Essential oils provide a fresh, aromatic experience while supporting post-shave comfort
Free from synthetic foaming agents, SLS, and drying alcohols, the formula works in harmony with the skin rather than overwhelming it.
Goat’s Milk (Caprae lac)
Nourishing and gently exfoliating. Helps soften stubble and support skin comfort during shaving.
Avocado Oil (Persea gratissima)
Rich in vitamins A, C, and E, plus antioxidants. Helps support skin repair and elasticity.

In accordance with cosmetic labelling requirements, this formulation contains the following potential fragrance allergens, which occur naturally within fragrance compositions:
Limonene – A naturally occurring aromatic component found in essential oils.
This ingredient is present at levels permitted for cosmetic use. This soap is naturally fragranced with cedarwood, spearmint, and eucalyptus essential oils, and also contains avocado oil and fresh organic goat’s milk.
Individuals with known sensitivities to fragrance allergens or essential oils should review the full ingredient list before use. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
This shaving soap is formulated with a clear focus on ingredient integrity, biodegradability, and responsible sourcing, rather than shortcuts or cosmetic claims.
The soap base is created from organic vegetable oils, selected for their performance and environmental profile. These oils are fully biodegradable and break down safely after use, reducing impact on waterways. The formula is palm oil free, avoiding one of the most environmentally contentious raw materials in modern cosmetics.
The inclusion of French mineral clays reflects a low-impact approach to skin care: clays are naturally occurring, require minimal processing, and are used here for their functional benefits rather than as fillers. Goat’s milk, sourced from traditional farming, is included for its long-recognised skin compatibility and nourishment.
As a solid, water-free product, this shaving soap avoids the need for plastic pumps, excess preservatives, or unnecessary packaging. It is long-lasting, economical in use, and aligns with a low-waste, refill-friendly grooming routine.
Every ingredient serves a purpose. Nothing is included simply to appeal to trends.
Damp skin and massage. Avoid if you have sensitive skin as it contains essential oils.
Maison Berthe Guilhem is an artisan family savonnerie that hand make all their soaps.
Berthe Guilhem made her first goat's milk soaps in 1956 alongside ointments and the famous gardener's balm. Initially she made all the products for herself, her children, friends and neighbours.
Today Marc & Jean-Luc, Berthe Guilhem's grandsons, and their families, continue using her original methodology and recipes that adhere to strict and uncompromising respect for their formulations and for the environment.
Their believe "you can work in a human-sized laboratory, maintain an artisanal identity while manufacturing effective, efficient and state-of-the-art organic cosmetic products."
Marc Guilhem, grandson of Berthe Guilhem, is also a former student of the European Center for Applied Naturopathy
Creamy and durable, our soaps are made by hand
Maison Berthe Guilhem use a cold saponification method; The combination of organic vegetable oils and organic goat's milk in an unaltered state gives them exceptional results. Always cold, the formulation is kneaded before being vigorously pressed and molded. The soaps are hand cut and stamped after several weeks of drying. Their lifespan is extended due to their low percentage of humidity (8 to 10%).
100% natural ingredients
They make all their own infusions, decoctions, macerations and mother tinctures ensuring they make the best use of their natural properties.
What is cold saponification?
Cold saponification is the result of a mixture of soda in water, then later in oil. This manufacturing method is called Cold Saponification because it does not use the heat like traditional Savon de Marseille: The heat is naturally induced by the addition of soda to the water and then to the Oil that raises the temperature of the mixture until it blends. Once this process has occurred the ‘soap’ is left to dry for several weeks before Organic Goats Milk and other ingredients for example Avocado Oil, Shea Butter or Essential Oils are added.
Certified organic natural artisanal know-how
The Berthe Guilhem laboratory is certified to the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (A.N.S.M.). The majority of products are labeled COSMEBIO and certified organic QUALITÉ FRANCE and COSMECERT. At each stage of their manufacture, they are subject to dermatological tests and quality controls proving their safety. These tests, carried out by an independent laboratory, are done on healthy volunteers.
Berthe Guilhem: highly organic products
Maison Berthe Guilhem ensures the quality of its products and their composition. They all contain between 55% and 100% organic ingredients, which is very important compared to the 20% needed to obtain an organic certification!
