📐
A household essential trusted for generations. This traditional stain-removing bar brings together 95% pure Aleppo soap and 5% Terre de Sommières, the legendary French clay known for its exceptional ability to lift grease, oil and pigment from fibres and surfaces.
Dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic and 100% natural, this bar is suitable for the whole family — including delicate skin and delicate fabrics.
Why It Works
Aleppo Soap (Olive & Laurel Oils): Cleans deeply while respecting the fibre or skin it touches.
Terre de Sommières Clay (from Sommières, France): A natural ultra-fine clay that absorbs up to 80% of its own weight in oils and impurities, making it exceptionally effective on stubborn stains.
From everyday marks to the most persistent stains — wine, oil, ink, coffee, mud, blood, grass, make-up, and more — this soap bar is the one to have ready in the laundry cupboard.
100% natural & biodegradable
Hypoallergenic — suitable for sensitive skin
Plastic-free and long-lasting
A true zero-waste laundry essential
Made in Aleppo, Syria — supporting traditional craft and ingredient heritage
An indispensable stain bar to keep in the laundry, utility room, suitcase, sewing box and nursery. One of those “once you have it, you’ll never be without it” products.
250g
olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, aqua (water), Terre De Sommieres Clay (5%), laurus nobilis (laurel) fruit oil, sodium hydroxide
| Ingredient | Origin / Source | Purpose in the Product | Skin Notes / Suitability |
| Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil | Cold-pressed olive oil, from Syria | Primary nourishing oil; forms the base of the soap when saponified | Naturally moisturising and gentle; supports the skin barrier and reduces dryness |
| Aqua (Water) | Purified water | Solvent used in the saponification process | Evaporates as soap cures; no direct effect on skin |
| Terre de Sommières Clay (5%) | Natural sepiolite clay traditionally quarried near Sommières, France | Highly absorbent, draws out impurities, lifts grease and stains | Gentle exfoliant; supports deep cleansing without stripping the skin; also used for textile stain removal |
| Laurus Nobilis (Laurel) Fruit Oil | Pressed from the berries of the laurel tree, from Syria | Adds antiseptic, purifying and balancing properties | Traditionally used for reactive, troubled or imbalance-prone skin |
| Sodium Hydroxide | Mineral alkaline (lye), used in the saponification process | Necessary to convert oils into soap; none remains in the finished bar | Not present as a free chemical once the soap is cured |
Wet the stained area with cold water.
Rub the bar directly onto the fabric to work in a creamy lather.
Leave to rest for 15 minutes (longer for set-in stains).
Wash by hand or in the machine as normal.
For delicate fibres (silk, linen, wool), test on a small area first — this soap is very gentle, but every textile is unique.
Tadé was founded 29 years ago through a love of history and the
Levantine Mediterranean region.
Aleppo soap is the oldest form of soap in the world and the forerunner of Traditional Savon de Marseille. Thaddée de Slizewicz, the founder, is dedicated to perpetuating the wonders of Aleppo soap in a sustainable and ethical way, investing in the region, infrastructure and people involved. Now employing 15 full time team in Syria and a further 10 in France, 'authenticity, pleasure and elegance' underpins their direction and ethos. In 2023 they made 30tons of Pure Aleppo Soap and we are honoured to bring them to, and represent them in the UK.
Made between December and March, immediately following the Olive harvest, the Olive and Laurel Oils are saponified in a cauldron over 7-14days then the paste is poured on the floor and left to set. It is stamped and cut then left to dry for 9 months before being packed and shipped to France.

Some of our pillow cases had gone yellow and I used this on them, I soaked them after I'd scrubbed, and they came up white.
