The Traditional Stain Absorber

Terre de Sommières is a naturally absorbent clay discovered near the village of Sommières in southern France. For generations it has been used to remove grease and oil stains from delicate fabrics and surfaces without water.

Unlike soap-based cleaners, the clay works by absorbing oils directly from the material. This makes it particularly valuable for fabrics and surfaces that cannot easily be washed.

Why It Works So Well

Sommières clay is highly porous and capable of absorbing significant quantities of oil and grease. When sprinkled onto a stain, the clay gradually draws the oily residue out of the fibres.

How to Use

Dry Cleaning: Sprinkle generously over the stain. Leave for at least 3 hours (longer for older stains), then brush or vacuum away.
Odour Removal: Place a small bowl of clay in enclosed spaces like fridges, cupboards, or litter boxes to neutralise smells.
Wax or Grease Removal: Warm the area gently, sprinkle clay over the stain, leave overnight, then brush away.
Hands or Tools: Mix with water into a paste, rub gently, then rinse.

Dry cleaning: sprinkle the clay on the stain as quickly as possible. Remove with a vacuum cleaner after 3 hours at the earliest.
Odour remover: If there is an unpleasant odour, set up a bowl with a little clay in the affected area (refrigerator, cupboard, etc.) or put it directly
