Tadé clay is an extremely fine clay powder that can be used on all types of greasy and dry stains, and bad smells. Practical & Effective especially for objects that are sensitive to water.and can also be used as a dry cleaner.

This dry stain remover effectively removes greasy stains (oil, butter, fuel, make-up) from furnishing fabrics to decilate textiles such as silk. It can also be used on carpets, mattresses, leather, marble, granite, wood furniture, and floors (tiles, stone, woods, concrete).

The principle and basic treatment is: sprinkle generously on the surface to be treated without rubbing. Allow to act for several hours, a minimum of 2-3 hours (longer if the stain is old). Then rub, dab delicately and blow to remove the powder. Sometimes repeating this is necessary, for older stubborn stains it can be helpful to heat the area with a hair dryer or similar before starting.

Examples:

• Dry cleaning: sprinkle the clay on the stain as quickly as possible. Remove with a vacuum cleaner after 3 hours at the earliest.
• Odour remover: If there is an unpleasant odour, set up a bowl with a little clay in the affected area (refrigerator, cupboard, etc.) or put it directly in the litter box.
• Wax Removal:  First try to gently loosen the wax from the candle using a wooden spatula. If any wax remains, place absorbent paper/blotting paper on the stain and hold a hot iron/steamer over the stain to melt the wax again. Then sprinkle with Terre de Sommières. Wait overnight, scrub the loosened remnants the next day and blow away the powder.
• Oil, grease or oil paint stains: Sprinkle the stain with Terre de Sommières first. Leave for several hours. Remove the powder using a vacuum cleaner or a brush. If the stain is still visible, make a paste by mixing the powder then apply and leave for 12 to 24 hours.
• Hand Stains: Add water to the Terre de Sommières until a paste forms, then rub both hands. The mixture will wash your hands perfectly.
  
  

What's in it?

Sepiolite

• Sepiolite is a naturally occurring magnesium silicate clay mineral, often grey, white, or cream in colour. It’s sometimes called Meerschaum (German for “sea foam”) in its purest form.

• Found in deposits in Spain, Turkey, Morocco, and some parts of Africa. Traditionally mined and finely milled into a soft clay powder.

• Why it’s used in soap & cleaning products:

  • Absorbent: Highly porous, making it excellent at absorbing oils, grease, and stains.

  • Gentle abrasive: Provides mild scrubbing without scratching surfaces.

  • Natural deodoriser: Traps odours and impurities.

  • Eco-friendly alternative: Used instead of harsher synthetic cleaning agents.

• History & traditional use:

  • In Turkey, raw sepiolite (meerschaum) was famously carved into pipes.

  • In France, “Argile de Sommières” (a sepiolite clay from Sommières near Montpellier) has been used for centuries as a natural stain remover on fabrics, stone floors, and upholstery.

• In soap:
  Added to stain-removing and household soaps for its ability to lift grease, oil, and wine stains naturally. It boosts the cleaning power without needing synthetic chemicals.

• Concerns:
  Sepiolite is considered safe and non-toxic and biodegradable. However, as a fine powder, it should not be inhaled in large quantities (like any clay or dust).
